Once you start digging into these beliefs-Where did they come from? How have they served you? Are they still serving you? Do you want to keep them?-you’ll see some patterns, gain clarity and begin to feel more in control of your time. What are your beliefs about being busy? What are your beliefs about not being busy? Now let’s come back to the expectation to be busy. Is maintaining your car a good thing to do? Yes, this one matters but if you don’t get to it immediately, does it really mean you don’t take pride in your car? No, it doesn’t. With that said, will it serve you to sacrifice personal time to rest and be with family and friends? How will your business benefit if you’re burned out? Rid yourself of that expectation.ĭoes building your business matter? Heck yeah, it does. You will not be hauled off to jail or looked down upon by your neighbors if that doesn’t get done. So let go of that expectation.ĭitto for the guest bed. So what if the microwave is dirty? Will the earth stop rotating? Will hell freeze over? Will the house be repossessed? Likely not. The reality is we drive ourselves crazy with expectations that don’t really matter-hello, dirty microwave. ![]() With the answers to these questions, you’re now armed to make a conscious decision about whether to keep the belief and associated expectation or to change it to something that serves you better.
